ABOUT THE DOCTOR

Dr. Pechter was born in New York City in 1951. His family owned and managed the well known "Pechter Baking Company", which baked fresh breads, rolls, bagels, and cakes, that were distributed throughout the greater New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut areas. The family moved from the city, to Roslyn, Long Island, where Dr. Pechter grew up with his three brothers. A member of Roslyn High School's class of 1969, Dr. Pechter went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College, in 1973. He then attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, earning his D.M.D. in 1976.
|
|

|
|
Following dental school, Dr. Pechter completed a one - year general practice residency program at Jamaica Hospital, in Jamaica (Queens), New York. There, he gained experience in general dentistry, as well as periodontics, oral surgery, conscious sedation, medical emergencies, fixed and removable proshtetics, and endodontics. It was during this residency program, that Dr. Pechter was drawn to the specialty of periodontology. Working in all areas of dentistry, Dr. Pechter came to appreciate the essential foundation that periodontal therapy provided to enable any other phase of dental care to be successful.

Dr. Pechter was awarded his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontology in 1979, after completing the two year specialty program at Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry. He has been actively engaged in private practice in Palm Beach County, Florida, since that time, specializing in periodontics and dental implant surgery.

Dr. Pechter regularly volunteers his time at the Caridad Health Clinic, in Boynton Beach, Florida. There, he and other dentists donate their services to provide dental care to migrant farm workers and their families. "I really enjoy the sincere gratitude and appreciation we receive from the patients and the staff at the clinic, and it helps to keep my restorative skills active."

Dr. Pechter has been married to his wife, Madeline, for 30 years. Maddie is the one who is responsible for all of the beautiful needlepoint canvases that are displayed throughout the office. They have two sons, Nelson (23), who lives and works in Fort Meyers, Florida, and Wyatt (19), who is currently attending college. Some of Wyatt's early artwork can also be seen decorating the office walls. The family likes to get together for an annual ski trip out west. Dr. Pechter is a strong advocate of regular exercise and physical fitness. He swims daily with the Palm Beach County Masters swim program at Aqua Crest Pool. He is also an avid bicycle rider, and enjoys sea kayaking off Delray Beach.

Hello, my name is Lauri Long. I am the office manager for Dr. Pechter. I am also a Registered Dental Hygienist. My clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist spans 25 years and provides me with the knowledge to effectively communicate with our patients and our referring dentists.
I have been a part of Dr. Pechter's team for three years. Working with Dr. Pechter, I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to present the finest in periodontal therapy to our patients to help them achieve their ultimate dental health. My ability to work with a professional team that offers the highest quality of treatment, caring for and about our patients, and providing for their comfort, are values which are paramount to me.
On a personal note, I love to cook, so exercise is a must in my life, running in particular. I am a second generation Floridian, and consider myself a water person. I have one adult daughter, and I am engaged to a brilliant man. We love to travel and explore the world.

Therese Frost

|
Hi, my name is Therese Frost I have been a Certified Dental Assistant since the early 1980's. I started my career in general dentistry. From there, I have had the pleasure of expanding my knowledge in dentistry by working with different specialists in the Miami area. I have been an Orthodontic assistant, primarily treating patients with cranial - facial anomalies. I also have past experience assisting in Periodontics, where I was first introduced to dental implants. Just prior to joining Dr. Pechter's staff, I worked as an Endodontic assistant, and in 1995, I became a certified microscopic dental assistant at the Pacific Endodontic Research Foundation in San Diego, California. |

Since making Wellington my home, I feel fortunate to work in another high quality practice with Dr. Pechter. I am enjoying being re-introduced to the latest technology that a Periodontal practice has to offer, along side a team - oriented staff.

When I'm not in the office, I enjoy cooking, walking nature trails, and talking with my brother on his dock, taking in the ocean's beauty. However, nothing compares with snuggling with my two daughters, or watching their latest dance, drama, or fashion show in the living room. The best things in life are family.

Stacey Bloomquist

Hi, my name is Stacey Bloomquist. I am one of Dr. Pechter's hygienists. I have had the pleasure of working in this office since 2003. My initiation to dentistry was first as a certified dental assistant for six years. I then went on to study to be a hygienist. I received my Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Palm Beach Community College in 2002.

I feel privileged to work and learn with such an admirable and honest periodontist, as Dr. Pechter. This office and our patients are truly like a second family to me. To wake up every day and look forward to coming to work is such a blessing. What I love most about my job is the pride I feel in the quality of care we offer our patients. I feel lucky to be a part of this team.

When I am not at work, you can find me hanging with my family, at the beach, or cheering on the Dallas Cowboys football team.

Ellen Tharpe

|
Hi, I'm Ellen Tharpe, a Registered Dental Hygienist. I live in Royal Palm Beach with my husband, Patrick, daughter, Taylor, two dogs, and a cat. I graduated from Palm Beach Community College with an Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1976, and have worked continually for the past 32 years in general dental and periodontal offices in south Florida.

I joined Dr. Pechter's staff in January, 2005. It is a pleasure to work in such a high quality office, where the patients' needs come first. Dr. Pechter allows his hygienists enough time per visit to examine and record periodontal status, review home care, and thoroughly clean a patient's dentition, especially under the gum line, where pockets may be found. I especially like our new computerized periodontal charting, which allows us to produce patient records which are easier to read, transmit, and compare with previous findings.

I am a member of the American Dental Hygienist Association, and a life-member of the Florida Dental Hygiene Association. I keep active in my professional associations on the state and local levels by serving on committees and holding numerous officer positions. I am currently serving my second consecutive term as President of the Palm Beach County Dental Hygiene Society. I love what I do, and I am dedicated to helping my patients maintain healthy teeth for a lifetime.
